Our focus whether at Hannah's Bay or in your own community, is to support action focused on the care and protection of Papatuanuku, planet earth.

We work from a community-led community development perspective, which basically means its all about strengthening local communities ability to develop their potential, on a foundation starting with the care and the protection of our environment, and with strong focus on cooperative social outcomes.

Outside of Hannah's Bay we work with local communities, community organisations and schools in helping to develop, build capacity, and in some cases deliver environmental education (in action).

At Hannah's Bay we have worked with multitudes of groups who have come to help plant our wetlands, learn how to grow organic food in our organic community gardens, and achieved multiple outcomes in the process. We have hosted over 10 community days with activities from treasure hunts, to kayaking and of course wetlands planting and organic gardening.

The Hannah' s Bay restoration project won the Trustpower Spirit of Rotorua Awards Environment and Heritage section in 2010 and were finalists in the MFE Green Ribbon Awards community and envioronment section 2011. Our Manager, Denise La Grouw won the Zonta Rotorua womens community achievement award.
